Oils - Landscape and Seascape
These are new oil paintings inspired by my watercolour sketchbook work in Venice, the Outer Hebrides and the New Forest. Watercolours are translucent and ideally the application of paint to paper needs to be confident and right first time and then you must leave it alone and stop messing with it! With oils, however, it is possible to keep on working on top and, as I am never happy with my paintings, I keep adding brush strokes here or there; even though these are published on the web the original paintings may develop further or disappear for ever under a new layer of paint!
